Instagram Announces New ‘Awareness Feature’ for Young Users to Limit Late-Night App Usage

Photo sharing application Instagram announced its new feature targeting young users. The feature aims to reduce the time young users use the application late at night.

Instagram’s new “Awareness feature” When a user under a certain age scrolls through Reels or direct messages for more than 10 minutes, it will suggest closing the app and going to bed.

Instagram provides users “Isn’t it time for a break?” after the notification “It’s getting late, you should consider turning off Instagram” It will send a message like: This notification will be shown automatically after 22:00 in the evening.

The feature will be on by default. Young users will not be given an option to turn off the feature or not see these warning messages.

Instagram has not yet announced whether the feature will be automatically enabled for all teens or just those under 18.
