Lorenzo Insigne will officially leave Naples ke Toronto FC. Insigne joined the MLS club on a free transfer in July.
Insigne’s contract at Napoli expires next June. The 30-year-old has reportedly not reached an agreement with Il Partenopei regarding a contract extension. Insigne is said to be reluctant to accept Napoli’s request that his salary be cut in his new contract.
The Italian national team wing will be on a free transfer next summer. Insigne has confirmed Toronto FC as the new port of his career after his contract expired at Napoli.
Badge will part with Napoli which he strengthened for more than a decade since playing in the age group team in 2007. Insigne currently has a total of 416 appearances for Napoli with 114 goals.
Toronto FC announced that it had agreed to sign Insigne via the club’s official website. Insigne will be tied to a contract for four seasons by Toronto until July 2026. It is reported that Insigne will earn a salary of 11.5 million euros per season plus a bonus of 4.5 million euros.
Toronto FC president, Bill Maning, welcomed the arrival of Insigne to the Canadian team. He praised Insigne as a world-class forward.
“This is a historic and exciting day for our club,” Toronto FC president Bill Manning said on the club’s official website.
“Lorenzo is a world-class forward at the peak of his career. He is a European champion with Italy and has performed on the biggest stage of his career with Napoli.
“Lorenzo has the talent to change games. He plays with joy and passion, and our fans and supporters will love to see him as a member of our team.”
