What savings products do the French prefer? What financial products do the French use to prepare for their retirement? How is household wealth distributed in France? What is the impact of the rise in real estate prices on household wealth? Are the French over-indebted? Do donations promote access to property or the creation of businesses?
To answer these questions, INSEE is carrying out, from June 12 to December 16, 2023, the “History of Life and Heritage” survey with a sample of 17,000 dwellings throughout France.. This survey is the only reference allowing a full and detailed description of household wealth in France.
Survey process
A few Neuillean households will be solicited. Some have even taken part in previous collections and are familiar with the system, as this survey takes place over several years.
If your accommodation has been selected, an investigator from the institute, provided with an official card accrediting him, will come to your house to question you. The interview will last between 1h and 1h30 approximately. Responses will be strictly anonymous and confidential. They are only used to compile statistics, the law prohibiting any use for tax audit purposes.
