Saturday’s Eredivisie match between RKC Waalwijk and Ajax was interrupted after an action in which Etienne Vaessen was injured.

The referee decided to end the match prematurely. The words, which had previously been silent, could then be heard in the stands: “You will never walk alone.”
“This is about more than just football. We pray that everything is fine with you, Etienne,” Ajax wrote on social media.
Vaessen has made 186 appearances for Waalwijk. He collected 93 in the Dutch top league.
