Beijing, Dec 20 (EFE) .- The inhabitants of Xian, in central China, must present a negative nucleic acid test in the previous 48 hours to be able to go to work starting this Monday, local media The Paper.

According to the latest data provided by the health authorities, there are 49 active positive cases of covid-19 in the city, which has a population of around 10 million inhabitants.

A total of 21 of the 49 active cases were detected yesterday.

In addition, the city government has canceled face-to-face classes in primary and secondary schools and kindergartens.

The Xian authorities have reminded citizens in a statement that there are health centers that perform nucleic acid tests 24 hours a day.

Last weekend some neighborhoods in the Yanta district, in the center of the city, were closed to prevent possible infections.

China continues with its zero tolerance policy against the coronavirus and local governments announce large-scale nucleic acid testing campaigns and movement restrictions wherever cases are detected.

The total number of active infected in mainland China amounts to 1,736, according to the accounts of the National Health Commission of China, which puts at 100,386 the total number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic in the country and in 4,636 those who died from covid-19. EFE
