Inflation decreased in both Sweden and Denmark in February – Swedish inflation fell more than expected – News Øresund Sweden

In February, the rate of inflation decreased on both sides of the Öresund. Danish inflation fell from 1.2 percent in January to 0.8 percent in February when the consumer price trend is compared on an annual basis. On the Swedish side, inflation amounted to 4.5 percent in February according to the CPI measure that does not include interest costs, which was a decline from January when the annual increase was 5.4 percent. It shows new figures from the countries’ statistical agencies, SCB and Denmark’s statistics.

The Danish core inflation, which excludes food and energy, fell very much in February – from 2.5 in January to 1.7 percent at an annual rate, which is the lowest reading since December 2021. There were price declines for restaurant and café visits from January to February, which mainly contributed to core inflation falling compared to January, writes Statistics Denmark.

On the Swedish side, inflation fell more than the Riksbank and most analysts had expected. Just as in Denmark, inflation excluding energy fell significantly compared to January at an annual rate, from 4.4 to 3.5 percent. It is the lowest quotation in two years. (News Øresund)
