Industrial production grew by 3.7% in April

In April 2022, compared to April 2021, the volume of industrial production according to calendar adjusted data at constant prices increased by 3.7%, according to Central Statistical Bureau (CSP) data.

It was influenced by an increase in production in manufacturing – by 5.3%, while a decrease was in mining and quarrying – by 11.1% and in electricity and gas supply – by 1.5%.

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the increase in output was shown by all major manufacturing industries: manufacture of wood and wood products (by 8.4%), manufacture of food products (by 0.4%), manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and machinery (by 2.4%) and manufacture of non – metallic mineral products (by 10.7%). Output also increased in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (automotive parts and accessories) by 23.3%, in printing and reproduction of recorded media by 18.9%, in the manufacture of beverages by 16.8% and in the manufacture of wearing apparel by 11.9%. %.

The decrease in production was in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products – by 12.9%, in the manufacture of machinery and equipment – by 12.6%, in the manufacture of textiles – by 10.6% and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical equipment – by 9.8%.

In April 2022, compared to March 2022, according to seasonally adjusted data at constant prices, the volume of industrial production decreased by 0.1%. Production decreased in manufacturing by 1% and in mining and quarrying by 8.9%, while electricity and gas supply increased by 10.5%.

The CSB data also show that in April 2022, compared to April 2021, the turnover of the manufacturing industry according to calendar adjusted data at current prices increased by 28%. Turnover in the domestic market increased by 28.1% and in exports – by 27.9% (including in the euro area – by 41.1%, outside the euro area – by 18.5%).

In April 2022, compared to March 2022, the turnover of manufacturing increased by 3.8% according to seasonally adjusted data. It was affected by an increase of 4.8% in the domestic market and by 3.3% in exports (including 4.3% in the euro area and 2.5% outside the euro area).
