Assistant coach Erwin Rusni said Indonesian National Volleyball Team ran out of energy in the fifth set in the duel against South Korea in the event Asian Games 2023.
The Indonesian National Volleyball Team underwent a fierce battle against South Korea. After equalizing twice, the Indonesian National Volleyball Team had to admit South Korea’s superiority in the fifth set.
The Indonesian National Volleyball Team lost with a score of 27-29, 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 8-15. Erwin Rusni admitted there was a decrease in stamina in the deciding set.
“It’s indeed decreased a bit, previously we also played until the score was 3-2,” said Erwin referring to the victory over Kazakhstan, Monday (25/9), to CNNIndonesia.com.
The Indonesian National Volleyball Team is targeting the top six at the Asian Games. This target was not realized because they lost to China with a score of 1-3 in the round of 12.
In the hunt for ranks 7-10, the Indonesian National Volleyball Team had to settle for sitting in eighth position because they lost to South Korea.
Erwin said the National Volleyball Team learned valuable lessons when appearing at the Asian Games.
“There are lots of lessons. We are grateful to be able to fight against Japan, China, Korea, which in fact have a high stature. There are so many problems with winning and losing, but we have a lot of extraordinary experiences.”

Apart from the fatigue factor, Erwin said there were mistakes made so that the Indonesian National Volleyball Team failed to conquer South Korea.
