Indonesia National Team U-23 still last chance to qualify Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Garuda Muda must be able to get through Guinea As Playoff ring Next week.
In the match for third place in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Thursday afternoon (2/5/2024) WIB, Indonesia took the lead in the 19th minute through Ivar Jenner in the 19th minute.
Iraq leveled the score at 1-1 through Zaid Tahseen in the 27th minute. The score lasted until the end of the match and the match was completed with 2×15 minutes of extra time, where Iraq scored the winning goal from Ali Jasim in the 96th minute.
Indonesia lost 1-2 and had to shelve its dream of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics as there were only three straight tickets from Asia. The other two belong to finalists Japan and Uzbekistan.
Indonesia still has one last chance to advance to Paris next summer, that is from the Playoff against Guinea at the Stade Pierre Pibarot, Ales, next May 9.
Guinea itself had a similar fate to Indonesia as it only finished fourth in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, after losing on penalties to Mali on 6 June 2023. If that goes through, Indonesia will be in group with the hosts of France, the United States and New Zealand.
