Indonesia Battery Corporation Launches Standardized Electric Motorbike Battery System with BAMS

Jakarta

Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) launches standardization of swab batteries electric motor, Battery Asset Management Service (BAMS). With this new system, every electric motorbike user from various brands can exchange batteries at every Public Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU).

IBC Main Director Tono Nugroho explained previously that every electric motorbike manufacturer has its own ecosystem. As a result, electric motorbike users can only charge or exchange swab batteries at SPBKLU which have been provided by each brand.

“Electric motorbike users often face challenges related to differences in electric motorbike ecosystems. Unlike the battery system, the charging system used by electric motorbikes,” Tono said at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves) building, Monday (12/6) /2023).

However, with this BAMS system, in the future every brand of electric motorbike will use the same battery system and charger source. This means that users can easily exchange their electric motorbike batteries at all SPBKLUs.

“BAMS, an electric motorbike ecosystem platform that can accommodate electric motorbike users from various brands as well as conversion motorbike users,” he explained again.

In line with the implementation of BAMS nationally, IBC also signed 2 additional MoUs. The first agreement note was made by IBC with 6 industry players and electric motor conversions.

Meanwhile, the signing of the second MoU was carried out between IBC and 2 SOEs from China from the port and mining sectors. The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was also present at the event as a witness.

By signing these two additional MoUs, IBC hopes to help speed up the process of transforming the use of electric vehicles in the country.

“We believe that the efforts we are making (launching BAMS) can become a big rarity for the nation,” said Tono.
