The parties involved reacted indifferently to the first innovation plan of ‘disciplinary amnesty’ proposed by the People Power Party’s In Yohan Innovation Committee.

Lee Jun-seok, former representative of the People Power Party, said he was opposed to the ‘large pardon of ethics committee disciplinary personnel’, which was put forward as the first agenda item of the party innovation committee.

Former Representative Lee pointed out on Facebook on the 27th, “The Innovation Committee is responsible for publicly pointing out and reflecting on the unreasonable things that were done to seize control of the party.”

He emphasized, “Do something more fundamental that points out the tyranny of power.”

Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo also said on the 27th, “I do not want a pardon.”

Mayor Hong said on his Facebook page, “I accepted both the dismissal and the disciplinary action and endured the insults,” and added, “It has been a long time since I broke up with the Kim Ki-hyun leadership. “He is not running for general elections and has no intention of getting involved in general elections,” he criticized.

Previously, the Innovation Committee held its first meeting at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul on the afternoon of the 27th and announced that it would propose “a large amnesty for unity and dialogue within the party” to the party leadership to lift disciplinary action at the party level.

Those who will discuss lifting disciplinary action through the ‘grand amnesty’ include former leader Lee Jun-seok, whose party membership was suspended for 1 year and 6 months, Mayor Hong (party membership suspended for 10 months), and Supreme Council member Kim Jae-won (party membership suspended for 1 year).

However, as the parties undervalued the ambassadorial amnesty innovation plan, there were concerns that the Innovation Committee would falter as soon as it was launched and may not be able to fulfill its role in the future.

With dark clouds hanging over the future of the Inyohan Innovation Committee, interest in the government is growing as to what will come out of the second innovation plan.
