In India you can now see as far as the Himalayas thanks to less air pollution

There is also a lockdown in India due to the corona pandemic. Road and air traffic has been severely shut down and many factories are at a standstill. For this reason, air pollution has decreased, which now enables a clear view. In the city of Jalandhar and the surrounding area, people can see the tops of the mountains in the Himalayas, some 200 kilometers away, for the first time in decades.

An investigation revealed that air pollution had decreased in 85 Indian cities during the first week of the lockdown. In Delhi it had even dropped by 44 percent. Air quality in the city of Jalandhar had been rated “good” 16 out of the last 17 days. To the Comparison: In the same period last year, the air was “good” only on three days.
In general, India is one of the most vulnerable countries in terms of air pollution: 21 of the 30 most polluted urban areas lie on the subcontinent.
