India reiterates Narendra Modi’s statement; Russia-Ukraine War Clarified – News18 Malayalam

Repeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that ‘this is not the age of war’, India has once again clarified its position on the Russia-Ukraine war. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra expressed India’s position at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting. He said that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward and the agenda of the meeting is for foreign ministers of all countries to discuss the matter.

Foreign ministers from the G20 countries are meeting in Delhi to discuss how to tackle the ongoing global challenges as the standoff between Russia and the West escalates over the Ukraine war. The meeting will be held today and tomorrow.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang who came to India to participate in the meeting were welcomed by Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaya Shankar accepted. This is Blinken’s first visit to India since the start of the war in Ukraine. He had previously visited India in July 2021. Representatives of 40 countries and various organizations invited by India will also participate in the meeting. Newly appointed Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang is visiting India for the first time. Earlier, former Chinese Minister Wang Yi had visited New Delhi in 2019.

Ahead of the G-20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting, Jaishankar and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov met. Jayashankar said that he spoke to Lavrov about bilateral cooperation and issues to be discussed at the G-20.

Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said the summit on March 2 will discuss the role of cryptocurrencies in helping terrorists. He added that the Russia-Ukraine war will be the main topic of discussion at the meeting. The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Western countries are retaliating against them. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Delhi on Tuesday night to attend the meeting. On Wednesday he A bilateral meeting is expected with Jaishankar.

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi is unlikely to attend the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting due to his busy schedule with the parliamentary session. There were reports that the foreign ministers of the Quad countries may hold separate talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit. In this background, everyone was looking forward to Hayashi’s arrival. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Korea had also informed India that they too could not participate in the meeting due to internal reasons.
