The number immunized against influenza increased. Likewise, it reinforced measures to prevent an outbreak in the coming weeks.
With a total of 781 vaccines applied, the activity “Vaccination at Home, Salud a tu Puerta!”, of the Department of Municipal Health (DESAM) culminated with 25 teams that covered urban and rural sectors of the regional capital. The figures –in a marathon day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.– include 64 COVID-19 injections and 10 pneumonia.
The deployment was described as unprecedented and successful by the DESAM authorities. Simultaneously, they highlighted the good reception of the residents with the Health teams.
DESAM’s director, Miguel Aravena, said “we are very satisfied. A form was organized that allowed, in a few hours and house to house, 781 immunizations. The community responded positively. We were surprised even though we knew it was going to be a good day”, stressed Aravena.
Coinciding with Aravena, the director of the ASISTE (PA) Program, Sandra Miranda, explained that the intervention –which was characterized by the courtesy of the residents– was carried out with 4 teams in La Vara, Población Modelo, 22 de Mayo and Antonio Rods.
“We work very intensely from house to house. People welcomed us kindly. Before this day, we injected 150 to 200 people daily with all our devices. Therefore, the figures are improved”, concluded Miranda.
WITHOUT INTERRUPTING WORKING HOURS
Regarding the benefits due to the proximity of the PA, the neighbor of the Model Population, Paula Gómez, explained that it is highly positive since it does not interfere with the workday. Neither, she continued, does it require requesting hours of care at a health center.
“Due to our schedules, it is difficult to go out to get vaccinated and request medical hours beyond what the company authorizes us. We are super grateful that they have arrived,” said Gómez.
The Municipality of Puerto Montt reported that the target population immunized against influenza was –until this week– 74% in Older Adults.
The Chilean Navy, the Los Lagos Health Seremi, Municipal Public Security, the San Sebastián University, together with the Health Centers and the Rural Team participated in “Vaccine at Home, Health at your Door!”
