Increase in tolls at NY Thruway for drivers without E-ZPass – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Tolls will increase on the New York Thruway for drivers without an E-ZPass starting January 1.

The State Highway Authority voted Tuesday to increase tolls by 30% for people who drive on the Highway without an E-ZPass, the device that collects toll information and charges drivers.

The Thruway eliminated cash tolls in November. That means drivers without an E-ZPass receive a bill in the mail.

In addition to the 30% more toll, drivers billed by mail will also be charged a $ 2 administrative fee each time they are billed.

This is the first time in 10 years that tolls have been increased on the highway, the State Highway Authority said. The proceeds of the increase will support the conversion to cashless tolls.

Tolls will also increase for most drivers crossing the Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge in 2021 and 2022.

And there are more increases in sight …
