Incidences, vaccination rates, intensive care patients: Corona situation in Bavaria

No vaccine has yet been approved for children under twelve years of age in Germany. For 12- to 17-year-olds there has only been a general vaccination recommendation from the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) for a few weeks, which is why the proportion of people vaccinated in this age group is only around a quarter, according to the Ministry of Health.

In addition to the increase in the number of cases among children and adolescents, the corona situation is also generally cause for concern in many parts of Bavaria. In a comparison of the federal states, the Free State has the third highest incidence. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), only Bremen (108.2) and Baden-Württemberg (88.8, as of September 21, 3:16 a.m.) currently have a higher value than Bavaria (87.0).

Munich again above the incidence value of 100

With the districts of Traunstein (196.6), Rosenheim (176.5) and Berchtesgadener Land (173.1), there are also three Bavarian representatives among the four independent cities and districts with the highest incidence values in all of Germany. Only in Bremerhaven (218.4) is the value even higher.

In addition, with Munich (101.5), Nuremberg (112.5) and Augsburg (113.2), the three largest cities in the Free State currently have an incidence value of 100. A week ago, the value for the state capital was 64.

Rapid infection events in Miesbach

But the incidences are not only increasing in Bavaria’s major cities: there is also talk of a “rapid infection rate” in the Miesbach district. There, the number of new infections reported had tripled within four weeks, the incidence value is 113.8. The infection process is diffuse, distributed over the entire district and all population groups, it is said. Most of the newly infected are not vaccinated.
