Inaugural Covid-19 Vaccination in Toluca Sees Moderate Turnout, Mainly Among Older Adults

The first day of the vaccination process against Covid-19 in Toluca was carried out with a medium influx of people, and mainly older adults attended, so this invitation from the Ministry of Health of the government of the State of Mexico did not attract much attention. the attention of other vulnerable sectors.

In the Luis Donaldo Colosio park, located in the Valle Verde neighborhood, a line of people could be seen moving easily to receive the Sputnik vaccine, and there were even those who received it for the first time, as was the case of Susana Medina , originally from the Mexican capital.

“The reality is that I am going for the first time to receive the vaccine, because when they began to apply it I did not feel much confidence, so at the insistence of my relatives I went today,” said the older adult.

Fortunately, he said, the line moved quickly and there was no need to invest much time in this vaccination process, which will serve to protect them against this disease, given the intense cold that has been felt in Toluca in recent days.

It should be noted that the state government headed by Delfina Gómez Álvarez, launched this vaccination campaign against the new Coronavirus during the current winter season, with the purpose of protecting the health of Mexican families, which is why it has been developed in different points of the entity, such as Huixquilucan, Texcoco, Ixtlahuaca, Ecatepec, Coacalco, Almoloya de Juárez and this December 15 and 16 in the Mexican capital.

With public service hours from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., citizens interested in receiving a booster shot or getting the vaccine for the first time against Covid-19 will still be able to do so this Saturday.

For his part, Daniel Martínez, public servant of the state Ministry of Health, stated that there was an influx, although it cannot be compared with the number of people who came when the vaccine was administered for the first time.

“We have observed how people arrived little by little, mainly people over 60 years of age, we have hardly seen young people, although we still need this Saturday to see the response of other sectors of the population,” he indicated.

For the public servant, the low presence of young people in this process may be due to the fact that many of them still have to work or will wait for a better time to receive the reinforcement against Covid-19.

“We are only asking young people to show us their identification from the National Electoral Institute (INE), to know that they are over 18 years old, because the Sputnik type of vaccine is only given to people of legal age,” he stated.
