On Monday, hockey players had their first training on the ice. Head coach Sergejs Vitters has 30 hockey players, including three with Latvian passports.

Among them are defender Nikita Kolesnikov and attackers Oleg Shislannikov and Ainars Podzins.

Kolesnikov excelled in the Donetsk club in 17 games last season with 12 performance points (five goals and seven assists), as well as eight penalty minutes and a +/- score of 11.

Shishlanikov scored 29 (15 + 14) scores in 26 games, six penalty minutes and a +/- score of 27, while Podzins, who also has Russian citizenship, scored 34 (18 + 16) scores, 18 penalty minutes and + / – indicator 38.

The first test of the Vitera-led team will be the Donbass traditional pre-season tournament games. The Donbass Open Cup will be won from 25 to 27 August in Druzhkovka.

After that, the team will play the decisive matches of the 2019/2020 season – the playoffs of the Ukrainian Hockey Championship.

The Sports Department of the Ukrainian Hockey League (UHL) has confirmed the dates of the semi-final and final series of the Ukrainian Championship. The Donetsk team will play its first match in the semifinals of seven games against Kherson “Dnieper” on September 2.

The first match of the final will take place two days after the end of the last semi-final series, but not later than September 16.

In the main tournament “Donbass” with 95 points in 40 games took the second place, conceding by one point Kremenchug “Kremenchuk”, but by nine points ahead of “Dnieper”.
