In the occupied Sevastopol, warships are cut right on the beaches / GORDON

The so-called Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the city of Sevastopol has already paid attention to the work on sawing the ship on the beach.

“Inspectors of Sevprirodnadzor conducted a survey of the territory. It was found that the site does not belong to a specially protected natural area – the Bukhta Kazachya reserve. However, violations were recorded in the Black Sea”, – said in a post posted on April 28th.

However, as noted by the NTS, despite the publicity in the media and the reaction of Sevprirodnadzor, the work on sawing ships on the beach did not stop. Moreover, if earlier there was only one ship for sawing at the pier – the Mirage MRK, now the small anti-submarine ship Vladimir was added to it.

In addition to scattered garbage mixed with scrap metal, journalists noticed an excavator at the site where the ships were cut. According to local residents, the employees of the enterprise deliberately deepened the bottom of the bay, and with the mined sand and soil they began to fill the road in order to then take out the sawn scrap metal for sale by land.

Local residents oppose the work on the disposal of ships in the bay, as they are afraid of the deterioration of the ecological setting.

Context:

  • Russia occupied Crimea after illegal referendum on March 16, 2014… The accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation is not recognized by Ukraine and most countries of the world. At the moment, there is a checkpoint regime between mainland Ukraine and Crimea, and Kiev de facto does not control the peninsula.
