Faced with soaring prices, the municipality of Denain (North) has decided to give a boost to its inhabitants via a check for 50 euros for each household.

Two checks for 20 euros and a third for 10 euros for each household in Denain (North), without means test and to be spent in member brands of the local commercial union. “It’s a little boost”, says Anne-Lise Dufour-Tonini, PS mayor of Denain. The problem is particularly strong in Denain, one of the most economically devastated cities in France.
The scars of Usinor’s definitive closure in the 1980s are still very visible, with more than one out of two young people unemployed and more than 40% of its population living below the poverty line. The checkbook will be collected by residents during the first week of April holidays and will be spent before June 30.
