In the beginning there was a German word of love, now the couple from Opava were celebrating a golden wedding

On Saturday, June 27, they repeated the ceremony with their loved ones again in the Petr Bezruč Municipal House of Culture in Opava. Věra met Bernd in 1968 in Krnov. At first, their communication was not easy, as the Czech Republic had difficulty understanding the love of the German-speaking Bernd. However, they managed the initial difficulties together and after two years, specifically on June 24, 1970, they said their “yes” in the German city of Apolda.

As their little bridesmaid, their first-born daughter Angelika was already at their wedding. They stayed in Apolda until 1974, a year later the couple bought a house in Opava-Palhanec. It later became their lifelong content. First they raised domestic animals, then they started growing vegetables and plants, after all, their garden is now an admiration for all passers-by. In 1980, the family expanded to include Roman’s son.

Mrs. Věra likes to cook, bake, cook, mushroom pick, she devotes herself to the garden and to the great-grandchildren, of whom she and her husband have a total of three. Mr. Bernd also enjoys spending his time in the garden, cycling, reading books and magazines, and also, perhaps as one of the few men, enjoys shopping. Together they go for walks with their chihuahua Sisi and love swimming in nature. Their children admire the endurance and energy that they still have enough of.

In conclusion, we were of course wondering if they also have a recipe for a happy marriage? “It simply came to our notice then. Sometimes my husband and I were uncomfortable, for example, because of the children, we each have a slightly different opinion on upbringing. But otherwise nothing special, I think we are simply such a normal family, “says Věra Rumpoldinová with a smile.
