Vladimir Putin apparently did not want to wait any longer before announcing a first significant victory in Ukraine, almost two months after the start of the invasion. Receiving his Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, the President on Thursday welcomed the capture of Mariupol besieged and bombarded by Russian forces since the beginning of March. But Vladimir Putin recognizes that his army has not overcome the last Ukrainian defenders of this strategic port on the Sea of Azov.
