In Lithuania, a kilogram of nails and screws – BNN – is removed from the abdomen of a man

Lithuanian doctors have found more than a kilogram of nails and screws in a man’s belly. An unusual operation was performed in the city of Klaipeda, and foreign bodies were successfully removed, reports Lithuanian public media LRT and journalist Radvilė Rumšienė.

As reported by LRT on Sunday, October 3, the unnamed man stopped drinking alcohol a month ago and then swallowed nails and screws for a long time until he was taken to Klaipeda University Hospital with strong abdominal cuts.

“The case itself is unique, but find objects [ķermenī] is not a rare pathology, “commented Šarūnas Dailidėnas, a surgeon at Klaipėda University Hospital.

The operation lasted three hours, and the longest fastening materials found in the man’s abdomen were up to ten centimeters long. After removing the nails and screws, the man has started the recovery process, and he is also provided with the help of a psychologist.
