0 less than the same time last Friday. However, the number of currently infected has risen to almost 183,000. Of the 316,838 cases so far, 130,855 have been cured.

Laboratories in the Czech Republic performed 38,945 tests for coronavirus on Thursday, roughly the same as on Wednesday. A record 47,417 tests were performed on Tuesday. The proportion of positives among those tested remains above 33 percent. The data suggest that the population is much more infected than can be detected.

The number of deaths from coronavirus has exceeded over a thousand since March 10, and exceeded 2,000 last Friday. There have been more than a hundred deaths every day since last Wednesday’s death, with a maximum of 157 covid-19 people dying this Thursday. Today, the ministry registers 94 victims, a total of 3033.

According to the new Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES), the Czechia is probably at the beginning of reducing the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. According to Ladislav Dušek, director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics (ÚZIS), the data show that the epidemic is not worsening. The reproductive number, which shows the rate of spread of the disease, has dropped to 1.13 and the percentage of positive out of the total number of daily tests is not growing further.

However, due to the growing number of hospitalized, according to Dušek, there is still a risk that the capacity of hospitals will be almost exhausted in the second half of November. The debate on the relaxation of the adopted measures is not appropriate yet, he said. If he did not continue hospitalization, according to him, it would be more of a tightening, he added. According to Dušek, the deadline for evaluating the effectiveness of the adopted restrictions is Wednesday next week.

A state of emergency is needed to maintain the measure, and the government extended it until 20 November today, with the approval of the Chamber of Deputies. Deputies did not fully comply with the government’s request, the cabinet wanted to extend the state of emergency by 30 days until December 3.

In the last seven days, the infection has spread most significantly in the Benešov region, where hygienists have recorded approximately 1,237 cases of coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants. It is followed by Náchodsko with 1219 and Zlínsko with 1108 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the past week. The Cheb region is still relatively best off, with 321 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days.
