In Latvia, the actual unemployment rate decreased in August – in Latvia

The actual unemployment rate in Latvia in August this year was 8.6%, which is 0.3 percentage points less than in July, according to the data of the Labor Force Survey of the Central Statistical Bureau.

At the same time, Statistics Lithuania noted that the unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (SEA) had decreased by 0.4 percentage points in August and was 8.2% at the end of the month.

The Statistical Bureau also noted that compared to August of the previous year, the actual unemployment rate has increased by 2.5 percentage points, while the registered unemployment rate has increased by 2.3 percentage points.

In August 2020, there were 84 thousand unemployed in Latvia, which is 2.6 thousand less than in July and 24.5 thousand more than in the corresponding period last year.

During the last six months since the declaration of the state of emergency, the number of unemployed has increased by 12.4 thousand compared to the actual monthly unemployment data of February 2020.
