The film couple Marta Selecka will inhabit the worlds of the written word (Tutas cose, north side, Te!, Kingdom) and Gustav Terzen (North side, You!, Kingdom), but eight Literature director Uģis Olte (Greenhead, You!, Kingdom, Addresses, Keys, movie Upurga).
“Yet Literature bridges built from the present to the past. A writer who lives and writes now embarks on a journey into the world of a “once upon a time” writer. What you see in the rear view mirror is the helmsman of the current direction. But this time I feel it will be different,” she says Literature directed by Uģis Olte. “We have already filmed 3/4 of the series and at least half it seems – the writer who once lived, felt and created has chosen the writer of the present, and not vice versa. In the same way, we are all shaped by all our past encounters and feelings. And if a memory does not fade, then you must look for why? What else does it need from us? And try to answer as meaningfully as possible.”
Also this season in each of the eight Literature for the series, Marta will embark on a journey together with a contemporary Latvian writer, whose mind will be accompanied by a Latvian author of the past. They will take you on a journey to places where it is best to think about them. But Gustavs Terzens will travel alone – with books in the hands of people with open hearts and ears.
“I’m still thrilled with the depth of the gift bag in Latvian literature! Not only that, when every new Literature for the season, the team and I are able to quite quickly agree on authors and the authors themselves take turns – to find our literary storytelling mates in the past, but also the fact that I personally still discover new words for myself and am not ashamed of it at all. Without Rokpelni, I would hardly have plunged into the fresh air of Kunnos’ poetry, not to mention Pēteris Ārmans, thanks to Šteinberg for that! And even the destination of the physical journey continues to surprise me: this season I’ve been both in the homeless barracks and in the pigsties with a book in my hand! It turns out that there are still so many roads in Latvia that I can drive around for the first time,” says Gustavs Terzens.
In the first episode, the black stork of poetry, Kikōne, will leave his contemporary Sven Kuzmina hairless, with whom he once searched for “living literature” in the courtyards and rooftops of old Riga.
