In full coronavirus, the game “Plague Inc.” success in china

VIDEO GAMES – There are games to escape reality, and others. The “Plague Inc.” app, which aims to destroy humanity by spreading a deadly virus around the world, has become the most downloaded app in China today.

A resounding success in a country which has been hit head-on by a mysterious virus which has infected more than 800 people and left at least 25 dead, according to a latest report released on Thursday 23 January.

The inventors of the game, Ndemic Creations, noted this popularity in such a context. They explained on Twitter, in particular, that they were receiving a lot of questions about the new coronavirus and that it was safer to turn to WHO for the best answers.

“We created this game specifically so that it is realistic and informative without surfing on the very serious problems of the real world”, assures the company in a press release which notes that with each epidemic the game knows a jump of downloads . “However, this remains a game and not a scientific model, the current situation with the coronavirus is very real and affects a huge number of people”.

“Plague Inc.”, a strategy game, gives the player complete control over a disease that must be transformed into a true global epidemic before scientists can successfully develop a treatment.

Downloaded more than 120 million times since its creation in 2012, it also had a peak in popularity as the Ebola virus wreaked havoc in Africa in 2014. Ndemic Creations then asked participants to donate money to come to those affected and raised more than $ 75,000, the company said.

“Plague Inc.” was also praised in the United States by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for the “non-traditional route used to educate the public about epidemics and disease transmission”.
