Faced with rising temperatures, the question of greening cities is increasingly important. Trees are powerful allies for cooling the air in urban areas, and thus fighting against heat islands.
In Angers (Maine-et-Loire) the mayor Christophe Béchu (Horizons) has thus included in the local urban plan of the citythe obligation to install a tree for every four parking spaces created.
So, when residents find that the relay car park of La Barre, still under construction, does not accommodate any trees, it is astonishment. “The greenest city in France, really? All waterproof, no trees, no shade… Nothing is right” , criticizes hydrobiologist Marie Mézière-Fortin, on Twitter.
