Imran Khan, from the Cricket Hero to the ousted PM of Pakistan

Prime Minister Pakistan, Imran Khanousted from power through a no -confidence motion vote on Sunday (10/4).

Khan was confirmed to have stepped down from office after 174 lawmakers backed the no-confidence motion.

“As a result of this vote, a vote of no confidence was passed,” said Pakistan’s acting parliamentary speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, as reported by the news agency. AFP.

Imran Khan is a former international cricket star turned politician. He has served as Pakistan’s 19th prime minister since August 2018.

Khan was born in 1952 in the northeastern city of Lahore. In 1992, he won the only ODI Cricket World Cup for Pakistan which brought him to be the hero of Pakistan’s youth generation at that time.

Reported from the news agency Anatolia, Khan started playing cricket when he was 16 years old. He is a student at Aitchison College, a prestigious high school of bureaucrats and politicians.

At the age of 18, he was educated at the Royal Grammar School High Wycombe, England, and the University of Oxford to study political science, philosophy, and economics.

During his stay in England, he started playing county cricket and represented Pakistan in international cricket.

He also starred in five World Cups in 1975, 1979, 1983, 1987 and 1992.
