The square near the Daile Theater is the property of both the state and the municipality. The part of the theater square on the side of Bruņinieku Street and on the side of Brīvības Street up to the theater box offices is managed by VNĪ, but the remaining part on the side of Brīvības Street – from the box offices to Matīsa Street – is owned by Riga Municipality. VNI has taken the initiative for the joint progress of the project.

“In the first stage of the project, the pavement of both the state and the municipality will be restored, external low-voltage engineering networks and external power supply engineering networks will be rebuilt, public toilets will be rebuilt. In 2019, the design competition ended, where in the competition of 8 submitted projects the idea of the architect’s office “Made arhitekti” was recognized as the best for the arrangement of the territory, but it took a long time for detailed evaluation and approval of the design by the city construction board. Only on January 13, 2021, the Riga City Construction Board made a decision to support the design of the landscaping solution, which allowed to immediately perform design works and start the development of construction procurement.
