Important InPost changes: no more cumbersome redirects

Important changes to InPost parcel lockers are just entering into force – thanks to the UOKiK’s intervention, customers will pick up their parcels even easier. Disappears, among others redirection of parcels to a remote machine.

The Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has recently taken a closer look at the activities of the InPost brand. Parcel lockers are one of the most popular and liked solutions in Poland when it comes to courier services. Recently, however, UOKiK received a lot of complaints from the company’s clients.

Convenient changes to InPost

The huge popularity of Parcel Lockers on the Vistula River quickly contributed to the fact that the machines are not able to accept a sufficient number of parcels. So far it has worked placing our package for two days in a replacement parcel locker selected by InPost. Usually the machine was also nearby, but it wasn’t a rule.

For many customers, this solution was not very convenient. If the customer did not have a way to get to the replacement parcel locker, he was forced to wait another two days for the parcel to be delivered to the machine of his choice.

Many consumers complained about this practice to UOKiK. Thanks to the intervention of the Office, InPost has already implemented the necessary changes. From now on, if the Parcel Locker you have chosen is overcrowded, your parcel will be delivered for one day to another machine, remote maximum 2 kilometers in a straight line from the original. If it is not picked up, the next day it will be delivered to the parcel locker initially chosen by you.

The complaints received by UOKiK gave rise to the initiation of an explanatory proceeding. We checked whether the problems raised by consumers existed. In the course of the proceedings, the company complied with our reservations. Some of the changes have already been implemented, which could already be felt by consumers using these services.

The change also applies to the parcel collection service from collection points (shops, kiosks). Until now, when the customer was unable to collect the parcel (for example when the store was closed), the time spent in the parcel was not extended. From the beginning of 2021 the time for collecting the parcel will be extended by 24 hours for each day when the point was closed.

It will also be canceled fee for verifying the dimensions of the shipment (PLN 3.68) in a situation where the sender sends via Parcel Lockers a parcel of different dimensions than previously declared.
