IMF Calls Global Economic Fate More Gloomy Due to Crazy Inflation!

Jakarta

International Monetary Fund (IMF) cut its global economic growth forecasts for 2022 and 2023. The IMF also called the outlook for the world economy bleak and more uncertain.

Quoted from CNBC, Wednesday (27/7/2022), the IMF estimates that the world economy will grow 3.2% this year. Then it slowed down to 2.9% in 2023. This figure experienced a decrease of 0.4% and 0.7%, respectively, from the projections issued last April.

The decline in this projection indicates if the previously predicted risk is now occurring. Some of them are soaring global inflation, a slowdown in China to the continuing impact of the war in Ukraine.

“Tentative recovery in 2021 has been followed by increasingly gloomy developments in 2022,” the report said.

“Several shocks have hit a world economy already weakened by the pandemic: higher-than-expected inflation worldwide – especially in the United States and major European economies – triggering tighter financial conditions; a worse-than-anticipated slowdown in China, which reflects the COVID19 outbreak and lockdown; and the further negative impact of the war in Ukraine,” he added.

The World Bank last month also cut its 2022 global growth outlook to 2.9% from its previous forecast of 4.1%.
