Last Monday, October 16, a Monster truck company (large vehicles used as attractions) illegally set up in the town of Sarrians (Vaucluse).
Around ten fairgrounds and vehicles have set up camp near the old Sarrians station, on Via Venaissia which is private land. They also connected, without having the right to the electricity network and a fire hydrant.
The problem is that in addition to being illegal, this installation disrupted the preparation of the Sarrians rally which is to take place on October 28 and 29 on this same ground. A regional rally for which 150 drivers and a lot of public are expected.
The rally should not be disrupted
After initial unsuccessful discussions, the occupants finally ended up leaving the premises this Sunday following legal action and a ban on producing their shows by the prefecture.
Anne-Marie Bardet is the mayor of Sarrians: “I am relieved because even if this disrupts the organization, the Sarrians rally will be able to take place. But it’s true that at the time, we were completely helpless. We were faced with people who had no desire to leave. they don’t care about laws and finesso I hope they don’t come back.“
Several complaints have been filed against these people, in particular for theft of electricity and water, illegal occupation of private land but also for illegal posting in town.
