Day of accounts also for the telephone operator Iliadwhich in a note reports the achievement of 10.93 million active mobile and fixed users in Italy, with an increase of 1.26 million compared to 2022. The bulk are mobile users (fibre has 207 thousand users, 98 thousand new in the last year).
From the point of view of the income statement, the turnover stands at 1 billion and 61 million, up by 14.5% on 2022 and is better than the group as a whole. The gross operating margin rose more, by 17.2% and reached 247 million but the company underlines above all the achievement of a positive free cash flow (cash generation) of 4 million euros after less than six years of operation tricolor.
“We are extremely satisfied with the results achieved in 2023, which continue to show a strong increase and reflect the solidity of our vision, the effectiveness of our investments and, above all, the trust of our users built step by step,” he commented Benedetto Levi, CEO of iliad, recalling that 2023 was characterized by the launch of the mobile offer for companies and VAT numbers. However, the marriage with Vodafone did not materialise, for whose Italian activities the group headed by the Frenchman Xavier Niel had presented an offer, which was then rejected by the British TLC in favor of a marriage with Fastweb (Swisscom) of which we are just waiting for the official announcement.
Among the significant events of 2023, Iliad recalls the 57 Flagship Stores, +84% compared to 2022. and the launch of iliad Space, the iliad distribution channel which offers users the possibility of activating their offers at specialized telephone shops : over 3,000 points of sale were thus reached after just five months.

At group level, Iliad claims “European leadership in terms of turnover growth and new users on the mobile and fixed network: 2023 closes with 48 million and 515 thousand net users, an increase of 2 million 740 thousand compared to 2022″. Overall turnover rose by 10.4% to 9.2 billion with margins at 3.4 billion. However, the profit was halved to 318 million (-58%): this was influenced by “an unfavorable basis of comparison resulting from the recognition of significant capital gains in 2022, greater depreciation deriving from the high investments of recent years, an increase in financial charges (+194 million euros) attributable to higher interest rates on debt and to a lesser extent, to the increase in corporate income taxes”. The group, we read in the financial statement documentation, has a net debt of 10.2 billion (down compared to 10.8 billion in 2022).
“Starting from these important results – concludes the note – by 2024 the Group aims to achieve a turnover of 10 billion euros and to become the fifth European fixed and mobile telephony operator”.
