IKEA will start on Wednesday with a free shuttle bus service between its branch in Wilrijk and the center of Antwerp. ‘Pändelbuss’ is a test project in collaboration with Autocars De Polder that will last at least three months. IKEA hopes in this way to attract more visitors and to take car traffic off the road.

The shuttle bus will stop in the heart of Antwerp at the intersection between Frankrijklei and De Keyserlei and roughly run back and forth during the opening hours of IKEA Wilrijk once an hour. You will be able to recognize the vehicle by the furniture company’s distinctive blue and yellow colors. Without a traffic jam, the journey would take about 25 minutes, as the bus is allowed to drive on the bus lane and has no intermediate stops.
“The Pändelbuss is a simple and sustainable mobility solution that we want to offer to the Antwerp resident who previously could not easily reach IKEA Wilrijk,” says Robbe Geeraerts, Deputy Market Manager at IKEA Wilrijk.
