CSKA goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev became the oldest participant in the final in the history of the Cup of Russia, reported club press office.

On the day of the match with Krasnodar, which took place on June 11 and ended with the victory of the army team in the penalty shootout (1:1, 6:5), Akinfeev was 37 years and 64 days old.

The former record holder was Yuri Zhirkov, who was 36 years and 340 days old in 2020.

In addition, the goalkeeper of the army team is the only one who has played in seven Cup finals won. Akinfeev has five wins out of five in the tournament’s penalty shootouts, three of them in the finals.
