This Saturday, August 29, Jurkalne Day will be celebrated. Its central venue is the restored Ceplis of singer Igo.
The Jūrkalne Day celebrations will start at noon, when Suiti songs performed by the ethnographic ensemble “Maģie suiti” will be performed in Ceplis Square. During the day, listeners will also welcome Igo’s own concert – this time together with composer and pianist Jānis Strazdas.
On the second floor of the lime kiln, a decade-long exhibition of the Jūrkalne Art Plein Air was opened, but in the lobby of the old Ceplis shop building there will be a photo exhibition of Eriks Upenieks “Woman in a Lens”. A live performance of the artist Ieva Caruka’s drawings and paintings “Workshop on the Shores – Drawings and Paintings” is expected as a special event. On the square next to the stage there will be a market where you can buy bread and smoked baked in Jūrkalne, typical Suiti knitted socks and gloves, as well as Ceplis’ new souvenirs, which will be offered by the brand “Igo Akcents personality”. The flag of Jūrkalne flies over everything, bringing greetings from Kurzeme to Zemgale.
