Iga Swiatek remains number 1 in the WTA rankings despite Aryna Sabalenka reducing her lead after the Australian Open. Swiatek began her 88th week at the top but Sabalenka, who successfully defended her title at Melbourne Park, has narrowed the gap to 865 points.

Sabalenka was in impressive form throughout the tournament, winning the title without dropping a set. Coco Gauff returns as number 3 after reaching the semi-finals in Melbourne and breaks the 7,000 point mark for the first time in her career.

Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina fell to fifth place after her early exit in Australia. The big winner was undoubtedly Qinwen Zheng, who broke into the top 10 for the first time in his career after his run to the final in Melbourne.

Elina Svitolina jumped into the top 20 after reaching the fourth round in Melbourne.

ATP rankings: Djokovic at the top, Alcaraz is closing in

Novak Djokovic begins another record-breaking week as No. 1 in the ATP rankings, but Carlos Alcaraz has narrowed the gap while Jannik Sinner made a significant breakthrough.

Despite his defeat in the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Djokovic was able to retain the top position after Alcaraz was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

The 24-time Grand Slam winner Djokovic has spent an incredible 410 weeks at number 1 – exactly 100 weeks more than Roger Federer on the overall men’s list.

Djokovic, who is currently in his 10th reign as No. 1, has spent the last 21 weeks at the top. Alcaraz is just 600 points behind Djokovic in second place after collecting 400 points for his run to the quarterfinals.

Daniil Medvedev also reduced the gap to the top after reaching the final. New Grand Slam champion Sinner has passed the 8,000-point mark for the first time in his career and finds himself just 455 points behind the man he defeated in the Australian Open final.

The British presence in the rankings is led by Cameron Norrie, who returned at number 20, followed by Dan Evans, Andy Murray, Jack Draper and Liam Broady.
