Napoli has great potential to win the Italian League Scudetto this season. Fabio Capello judge the sensation will be the same as when AS Roma become a champion.
The Partenopei held firm at the top of Serie A in the first half of the season. Napoli have 50 points after 19 games and have a 12 point lead over second place AC Milan.
Seeing the results so far, Napoli has a big chance of winning the title at the end of the season. This can at the same time quench the thirst for league titles after the last one in 1989/1990 or during the Diego Armando Maradona era.
Capello gives an overview of what will happen when Napoli later becomes champions. He felt the sensation could be the same as when Capello brought AS Roma to win in the 2000/2001 season.
“The Scudetto in Napoli will be like my Scudetto in Rome. Napoli must stay focused, must not give up,” Capello told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“However, the team is there and doesn’t seem to have any problems. The players have now understood what their strengths are, and the big credit also goes to (Luciano) Spalletti.”
Napoli have looked equally strong in the Champions League, topping a group containing Liverpool, Ajax and Rangers. They will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the last 16 of the competition.
“Napoli are dangerous for all teams, if they play with humility they can go anywhere,” Capello said.
