“If they apply a fifth vaccine, I get it”

Accompanied by her mother and daughter, Carmen Sánchez left her home in Iztapalapa on time to arrive early at the Weapons Hall of the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City and apply the vaccine together, before the venue was saturated. Contrary to her prediction, the last day of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 was carried out quietly and with little influx of people.

“If they tell me that they are going to apply a fifth or a sixth [vacuna]I’m going to put it on, my daughter too and my mom, because we want to be protected,” Carmen assures EL UNIVERSAL as she walks pushing her mother’s wheelchair, who is 82 years old and has not been infected with coronavirus since that started the pandemic.

Families, young people and, for the most part, elderly people, who did not take more than three minutes to enter, completed the registration of the vaccine application form at the entrance of gate 7 of the enclosure to participate in Operative April , a health campaign that began on the 11th of this month with the aim of inoculating people over 18 years of age who have not received the reinforcement and are lagging behind.

Ana Rosa Carrión also took her mother to have the reinforcement applied, since she considers it “very important” to stay protected against the virus.

“Thank God, I never got sick. I feel good, full of my faculties and I will continue to vaccinate and take care of myself as many times as I have to, ”says the 84-year-old woman.

On the other side of the city, at the Jaime Torres Bodet Cultural Center, the situation is similar, since the long waiting lines that were generated since the beginning of the application of biologicals have ended. Elderly couples patiently wait their turn to receive a fourth dose or booster with Sputnik V.

“I am not in favor of them, but the City government did very well to make the fourth dose available to us so soon after the others, but I have two girls under the age of 14, one has already had Covid-19 and I would like that just as I had the fortune to receive my four doses, and in a situation of delay, my girls can be vaccinated soon so as not to be afraid to take them for a walk to crowded places, ”says María Elena Torres to the Health authorities of the City from Mexico.

Mrs. Torres went with her parents, 87 and 78 years old. “My brother had a very serious case of pneumonia, they had to intubate him and he died in the clinic, it was less than two weeks of agony and we could only see him already cremated.

“I was incredulous about the virus until that happened to us, but now my entire family is vaccinated with chili, mole and pozole, with Sputnik, Astra and I think even the Chinese vaccine. The important thing is to have it, although my 11 and 12-year-old children are missing, ”she says.

At the cutoff this Saturday, there are 197 million 496 thousand 797 biologicals supplied to 85 million 767 thousand 339 people throughout the country. Of the total, 44 million 213 thousand 119 correspond to reinforcements, the agency announced.

“I already go out to the squares with confidence, I even went to Acapulco at Easter, but I want the same possibility for my children,” Mrs. Torres stresses.
