Indonesian Doctors Association (WAS) request that patients who are currently hospitalized and experience similar symptoms monkey pox (monkeypox) to be tested immediately by the Polymerase Chain Reaction method (PCR).
Doctors were asked to perform PCR tests on patients to detect monkeypox.
“Immediately follow up with a PCR test, which is a method of examining the monkeypox virus by detecting the DNA of the virus,” said Head of the PB IDI Infectious Disease Control Study, Agus Dwi Susanto in an official statement, Wednesday (27/7).

Agus also asked doctors and health workers to report to the local Health Office if there are patients with symptoms similar to monkeypox.
With that, step surveillance and other follow-up actions can be done quickly.
Agus agrees that so far monkeypox has not been found in Indonesia. However, it never hurts to be vigilant considering the disease has been found in several neighboring countries.
Agus said that a good understanding of monkeypox infection and early awareness of extraordinary events or outbreaks are the main capital in the aspect of prevention.
Efforts to avoid contact with patients suspected of being infected with the virus are the most effective prevention keys at this time outbreak.
“Accompanied by effort surveillance and early detection of active cases in order to quarantine to prevent wider spread,” he said.
Previously, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the monkeypox outbreak a global health emergency following the many cases of monkeypox in a number of countries.
The emergency declaration could help accelerate vaccine production and implement measures to limit the spread of the virus.
For information, monkeypox is an infectious disease caused by infection with the rare monkeypox virus. This disease triggers a number of symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, to a rash that will appear gradually.
