The Air Force published today (Friday) an investigation that sheds light on the way in which Efrat Katz, who was kidnapped from Nir Oz on October 7, was killed. According to the IDF, the findings of the inspection indicate that during the battles and airstrikes, one of the helicopter gunships that took part in the fighting fired at a vehicle containing terrorists, which later, according to the evidence, turned out to contain hostages.

The findings of the test were presented to the family of the late Efrat and the families of the abductees. Efrat was the partner of Gadi Mozes, who celebrated his 80th birthday last month in the captivity of Hamas in Gaza. His niece said that before he was kidnapped, Gadi tried to protect Efrat and their family, while trying to negotiate with the terrorists. Efrat’s daughter, Doron Katz-Asher, who was released in the hostage deal after 49 days in captivity, told in a previous interview about the moments of the kidnapping and the seconds in which she lost her mother, who was sitting next to her in a car.

“At some point they actually put us on a tractor that took us from the field directly to Gaza,” she said. “In the middle of the tractor ride, there was a shooting, as a result of which, my mother, my beloved, was murdered.” During the shooting, Doron’s two little daughters managed to escape and she had to leave her mother behind to protect them: “I realized that I had no way to help her, that I had to join the girls.”
