‘ICU is completely full of corona and non-corona patients’

“The number of hospital admissions must stabilize or decrease in the coming days to make the situation more bearable.”

The hospitals of Franciscus Gasthuis and Vlietland warned about this in a press release this afternoon. According to the hospital umbrella, the intensive care unit is now completely full of corona and non-corona patients.

There are currently 57 proven corona patients in the two hospitals. Of these, 44 are in the Gasthuis location (Rotterdam) and 13 in the Vlietland (Schiedam). There are also three suspicions. Unfortunately, the outlook is that the number of hospital admissions will increase even further in the coming days, the hospitals said. The umbrella organization would like to thank all colleagues who are once again working hard to accomplish ‘this immense task’.

Unsustainable

The Dutch Association of Hospitals (NVZ) announced earlier this week that the situation threatens to become untenable. Doctor Diederik Gommers of the intensive care association and hospital manager Ernst Kuipers called in the cabinet last night News hour on to be the first to vaccinate hospital staff. Monday, if it is up to Gommers. Franciscus Gasthuis and Vlietland also supports this. “After all, availability of care is essential,” concluded Francis.

The Franciscus Vlietland in Schiedam is the closest to a large number of regional members.
