Slovak hockey players won the world championships over Kazakhstan just 4: 3. After the second win, they scored three more points and stayed in the quarterfinals.

After the opening goal of the debutant Andrej Kollár, the opponent punished the exclusions of Kristián Pospíšil without hesitation and led 2: 1 after the first period. In the second part of the game, however, Pavel Akolzin attacked Jakub Minárik and the Slovaks had a five-minute power play, which they used to turn the unfavorable situation through precise interventions by Martin Fehérváry and Adam Liška.
Juraj Slafkovský increased to 4: 2 from a penalty shootout after he was fouled in an escape to the Kazakh goal. It was his goal that won, as Kazakhstan reduced its loss to 3: 4 in the third period. “I remembered Cehlárik’s raid. Backhand, forehand and it was down, ” described his young striker with a laugh.
After the second period, the Slovak team had more reasons to rejoice than after the start of the match. “It simply came to our notice then. The two powerlifters, there it was repulsed by the Kazakhs and fell into our gate. Suddenly it was 2: 1 for them. I am glad that we woke up in the second period and scored three goals, which finally decided the match. “
In the final act, coach Craig Ramsay’s charges threatened to lose the necessary points as the opponent demanded a tie-in and extra time. “It simply came to our notice then. The reason is probably that we are a young team and it was a challenging match. We knew we were under pressure and we needed to win. No matter how many goals we have won, these are three points. Everything is in our hands. That is the most important thing. ”
The increase in Kazakh activity in the third third of the bronze medalist from Beijing did not surprise. “They also needed points. The coach probably didn’t tell them they could just skate. They, too, had to work. ”
The stone fell from everyone’s heart not only after gaining three points, but also after the overtimes used. “We have finally scored goals. I think we’ve calmed down all the two-week online trainers a bit. Now they have to look for something else that has a problem. ”
The start of the tournament did not come out of the future hope of Slovak hockey, as expected, but its performance is constantly grading from match to match. Progress feels on its own. “I made a few mistakes in the first duels. But sometimes it happens when you try too hard. For the last few days, I’ve been thinking about making it easier to play and not thinking so much about it. I can play better. ”
