The seventh newcomer to the Huskies is a striker, but coach Tim Kehler is also planning to act as a defender – and a very young one: 19-year-old Joey Luknowsky is moving from the Krefeld offspring to the Kassel ice hockey second division team.

Kassel – Luknowksy receives next to Paul Kranz the second sponsorship contract for young professionals, as the DEL2 statutes for the coming season. And: If Joey has the same potential as his father Jay, then the North Hessians have brought in a boy with good prospects. The Canadian Ray Luknowsky (52) from Trail played in 15 years from 1991 to 2006 in nine German clubs, including the second division Bremerhaven and Nauheim and the DEL seasons 1995-97 in Krefeld. So Joey grew up with ice hockey.

The junior weighs only 71 kg at 1.78 m, has passed through all the KEV junior teams and was part of the offensive tribe of the Krefeld DNL team. Last season, the right-handed shooter scored 17 goals and 23 assists in 35 games, was the second-best scorer on his team and the seventh-best scorer in the highest German youth league. In that year, Kranz scored 12 goals and 21 passes as 17th in the young eagles Mannheim.

With Luknowsky, the Huskies now have two goalkeepers, four defenders, nine strikers and all-rounder Luknowsky in their squad for the DEL2 season, which is scheduled to start on November 6th.
