Ibrahimovic claims to be ‘the best player in MLS history’

The 40-year-old Swede looked back on his time in the United States championship, between March 2018 and January 2020.

Pour ESPN Gab & Juls ShowZlatan Ibrahimovic has confidently asserted that he was too good for Major League Soccer when he moved there, and that he is even “the best player in history” of the championship: “I was very happy there. I am very grateful to MLS because it gave me the chance to feel alive. But the problem with all that is that precisely, I was still too alive and therefore too strong for MLS. (…) I think playing in MLS was the best way for me to come back. I was in the best possible condition, and maybe one day I will come back. Why ? To remind them what real football is.”

Taunted by journalists about his self-proclaimed status as the best player in the history of MLS, which has seen David Beckham, Steven Gerrard or Andrea Pirlo pass by, the AC Milan striker confirmed: “It’s the truth. I think MLS fans will never see something like this. And I say that without ego, without trying to show off.”

During his time at the Los Angeles Galaxy, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 53 goals in 58 games (with 15 assists).
