Former world number one Andy Roddick is a huge Roger Federer fan and he hopes his sons will be as lovable as the Swiss. Roger Federer announced on Sunday that he would undergo a third knee surgery.
Federer underwent two knee operations last season and returned to competition in March. “I wish my sons were as lovable as Roger. In the locker room, the players threw grips on the floor and walked away.
But there was never a feeling of pretension with Roger. The way he behaved when no one was watching is the thing I will remember, ”said Roddick.
Federer hopes the operation will help him in the long run
“I just wanted to give you a little update on what has happened since Wimbledon.
As you can imagine, it wasn’t easy. I did a lot of checks with the doctors on my knee, getting all the information because I injured myself more during the grass season and Wimbledon, ”Federer said in a video.
“This is just not the way to go forward, so unfortunately they told me that in order for me to feel better in the medium to long term, I am going to have to have an operation.
I decided to do it. I’ll be on crutches for many weeks and out of the game for many months so it will be tough in a way, but at the same time I know it’s the right thing to do because I want to be good health, i want to run later as well again and i want to give myself some hope of getting back to the circuit in some form or another. ”
