“I am proud of my time at Ferencváros” « Üllői út 129.

Ricardo also told us who his favorite player was.

– An unavoidable topic is Ferencváros, where he arrived in 2012 and managed the team for a year and a half. Have you kept in touch with anyone from the club since then?
– No.

“Why?”
– I do not know. Somehow everyone went on their way. But I am proud of the League Cup victory, the winning matches, the applause we received in the stadium. It was then that Ferencváros started on its successful path since then, the training center was nowhere near what it is now, the conditions could not be compared to what they are now. I had brilliant football players though.

“Did you have a favorite?”
– Dániel Böde. He was an incredible figure. He could handle the pressure, he wasn’t interested in anything but scoring goals. At first I had to make him work hard, he lost almost ten kilograms. By the end, he was in good shape and became a national team player. I am really proud of the time I spent at Ferencváros, it fills me with joy that even if it is only a fleeting chapter, I too will have something in the club’s history book.

“You were the head coach when Akeem Adams had a heart attack on the field at the age of twenty-one.” He was in the hospital for months, one of his legs had to be amputated, and in the end, even though they fought for him, he did not survive. Did you get over the tragedy?
“What do you think I’m out of it?”

– I do not think so.
“Well, thanks to him.” That young guy taught me the biggest lesson of my life then. He was in the hospital for months, there wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t go to see him. He will always have a place in my heart. That guy taught me to always be mentally strong, never complain and never show weakness.
