Do you know the Hyundai Stargazer? If not, you have nothing to be ashamed of. It is a car inspired by the design of the original Staria, but in a smaller body and intended exclusively for Asian markets. This piece has now received an X-designation, i.e. a variant with a crossover style and protective plastics around the body.
The Stargazer X is characterized by a distinctive radiator grille, which is accompanied by a narrow diode line of headlights. Chrome was not spared, and in the lower part of the bodywork, unpainted plastics correspond to the twenty-centimeter ground clearance. This is a decent value, which even some SUVs do not reach in our country! The more adventurous ensemble is completed by two-tone seventeen-inch light alloy wheels or roof rails.
It is not a pure off-road adventurer, because the technology in its guts relies only on front-wheel drive. An old-school engine works under the hood – a naturally aspirated four-cylinder 15-cylinder with an output of 85 kW and a torque of 144 newton meters, which we know well here from the basic i30. The customer has a choice between a six-speed manual or an automatic CVT.

The equipment was not spared either, as the Stargazer X has, for example, an eight-inch multimedia system screen, ambient lighting, a Bose audio system or artificial leather upholstery with red stitching. The car is almost 4.5 meters long and, depending on the configuration, can accommodate six to seven passengers. With the seats upright, the boot has a volume of 200 litres, but by folding down the rear bench, it increases to almost three times as much.
The price policy is no less interesting. The Stargazer X starts at twenty-two thousand US dollars, which is equivalent to CZK 490,000. If you were to settle for a standard model without crossover elements, you would even push the price down to the amount of CZK 400,000. So here we have a compact car with a spacious concept, futuristic design and simple technology for decent money – a cross between the Staria and the ix20. The Stargazer looks a little odd, but it has a good recipe for success and a price tag to help it do so. Too bad we can’t have it in Europe too.
You guessed it right, Europeans can only see the Stargazer X in pictures, it is not expected to be sold in our country at all. In Asian Indonesia, they have better luck, the first interested parties can already order the new product and will wait until this year.
