From Las Vegas, on the sidelines of CES 2020, Hyundai and Uber announced this week that they have entered into a partnership aimed at developing an air transport network, the dream of hybrid bus service and meal delivery. The network of shared taxis could make its first trips in the air in 2023. The vehicles will be manufactured by Hyundai, which will build electric flying vehicles that can accommodate up to four passengers.
The desire for large-scale manufacturing
The revolution is on. Hyundai and Uber presented to the press the S-A1, a 100% electric vehicle designed to take off and land vertically and which could fly at an altitude between 300 and 600 meters and at a speed of up to 290 km / h . The device is designed to recharge in a few minutes, with a flight range of around one hundred kilometers.
The idea, for Hyundai and Uber, is to manufacture a large-scale device whose cost would be moderate, and finally to allow its reasonable operation (in the eyes of passengers) as a flying taxi. The S-A1 will be equipped with several rotors which will help reduce the noise impact of the aircraft.
A few months ago, Uber had announced that Melbourne, Dallas and Los Angeles would be the first cities to host Uber Air service.
